Senior Designer
GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creating innovative and commercially creative textiles, whether adapting open-source inspiration or responding directly to customer assets, designs will align with current technical capabilities. Collaborate cross-functionally with entire team including sales.
Responsibilities:
• Develop/revise designs that align with the aesthetics, technical and cost requirements of the annual GTA Creative Direction as established by the Creative Director.
• Maintain art and inspiration files that include concepts for the total bed (i.e., panel, border, cover design)
• Maintain an ‘open file’ of individual concepts and design ideas that are yours alone, for the purpose of creative freedom development.
• Work closely with R&D Knit manager to create alternative design solutions to avoid technical issues.
• Collaborate with your design colleagues and GTA R&D knit manager to develop creative solutions to design issues.
• Honor your colleagues by being prepared for all working sessions, product reviews and kick-off meetings.
• Comply GTA timelines and schedules for deliverables as outlined in the creative brief.
Customer Specific Responsibilities:
Drive top line growth in support of company’s success, using effort, solutions & customer engagement.
• Develop compelling concepts and designs that align perfectly to the aesthetics and technical requirements of the customers’ design brief.
• Evaluate constructions and select those that provide the highest visual appearance of value and quality.
• Adjust designs as required to meet target cost parameters.
• Work closely with R&D Knit manager to create alternative design solutions so to avoid technical issues.
• Revise designs as required or develop new designs and concepts in response to customer feedback.
• Create compelling digital presentations (i.e., simulations, mapping, renderings) for customers facing product reviews.
• Author and maintain customer presentation files, detailed meeting notes and design development wall.
• Comply with customer-GTA timelines and schedules for deliverables as outlined in the design brief.
• Collaborate and meet with the assigned sales agent, GTA R&D knit manager, GTA Creative Director and Customer as required to evolve the GTA offerings into a successful outcome.
WORK EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Advanced understanding of circular knitting machines & jacquard constructions.
• Advanced knowledge of circular knit and machine capabilities and jacquard fabric and weave constructions.
• Strong artistic background, an ability to create original art, revise or adapt existing art including skills in hand-drawing and illustration.
• Ability to translate art into repeat easily.
• Advanced skills in EAT (inc. Layer Editor), Adobe Creative Suites (Illustrator, Photoshop), and 3-D rendering.
• General knowledge of AI generating software and prompt creation
• Must be highly organized and time-oriented, capable of efficiently completing multiple tasks and projects within deadlines.
• Must have effective communication skills and ability to follow-up when needed.
• Ability to work in an often-fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality, detail, and accuracy.
• At least 3 to 5 years of proven experience.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• BA, Textile Design.
